Quick Look At The Eureka Enviro Steam Mop

by Kathy on January 13, 2010

The Eureka Enviro Steamer is a five pound steam mop that is gaining in popularity. Like similar electric mops, it uses steam, instead of harsh chemicals, to clean and sanitize hard flooring surfaces. Although it is not as well known as the Shark or the Bissell models, it is still popular, consistently ranking as one of the top selling steam mops on Amazon, and for the most part, receiving favorable reviews too. With a suggested retail price of $79.99, it’s also one of the more affordable models on the market.

The Eureka Enviro Steamer comes packaged with two, thick durable, machine washable floor cloths. The cloths easily attach to the unit using clips. Replacement floor cloths can be purchased, although they are a little pricey, selling for around twenty dollars each.

The steamer heats to temperatures sufficient to kill dust mites and other unwanted bacteria and germs, such as salmonella and E-coli, on hard flooring surfaces, including ceramic tile, linoleum, and sealed hardwood floors. It also has an indicator light, alerting users to when the twelve ounce water tank needs refilled. Other features include a lengthy 25 foot cord, a 12 1/2 inch cleaning path, and a preheating/cool down tray.

Based on consumer reviews, the most notable complaint is that the Eureka Enviro Steamer left too much moisture on flooring surfaces. Fortunately, this problem may be easily rectified by using distilled water and allowing the unit to fully preheat. This model does take longer than many others on the market to heat, requiring up to a full five minutes to fully heat before use.
